Big Government vs. George Zimmerman: The Fate of our Judicial System, and maybe even of our Republic

More on the Trayvon Martin - George Zimmerman 'case' ...

First, what is most troubling to me about all this — outside of the calculated (and as it turns out, dishonest) attempts by the media and even our own President turn a local tragedy into a symbol of supposed racial animus — is that Zimmerman was arrested months later in what I believe is a case of politically-motivated prosecutorial overreach. It is clear that, as the original investigation disclosed, and the original prosecutor’s office found, there had indeed been an altercation prior to the shooting, with Zimmerman apparently on his back, and Martin shot at very close range.

Second, as I said it at the time and I’m going to repeat now: the (second) prosecutor’s “case” — and I don’t care the political party of those who pushed for a special prosecutor’s investigation, it still reeks of a political scapegoating, Republican or no — is based solely on Zimmerman’s having continued to follow Martin, to the extent he did (even if it was only to get a better look at a house number, etc.), after being advised by a dispatch officer to stay put.

Following someone is not a crime. Being followed may be grounds to confront the person following you, but it isn’t grounds for assault, at least not on its face. So unless the prosecution can somehow prove that Zimmerman followed Martin and then presented himself to Martin as a threat, either by initiating a physical altercation or brandishing the gun — and I don’t think there’s anyway in hell they can do so, short of perhaps testimony of Martin’s girlfriend — there is no case here, and Zimmerman was within his rights to defend himself the way he did.

Zimmerman's upcoming trial will also be a trial of the very worth and security of our entire Judicial System. There'll be more attention focused on this possible farce-trail than on even OJ's and the recent trial of of that little Floridian bint who killed her kid's trials combined; a serious trial (we fervently hope) but still a true three-ring spectacle. This Zimmerman trial will play a significant role in our oh-so important Presidential election.

If Zimmerman prevails (given the evidence I've seen presented publicly, there seems no way he'll be rightfully convicted on a 2nd Degree Murder charge - Manslaughter was their only real option for to secure a conviction as far as I can tell) then Barack Obama's 'son', Trayvon's ghost, will be a top vote-getter for Daddy O!; spurring a bloc of wrathful rage-voters that, along with the others he's already seduced with his 'Community Organizing', with his inflammatory 'Hate the RICH!' and 'Here, more promises of EVEN MORE! monies looted from our Republic's Treasury! IF you VOTE for ME!' rhetorics, Baracky'll have a better chance to secure re-election and to continue to harm this little Republic.

"If I wanted America to fail", I'd certainly be a far-Left Democrat, perhaps named Obama.

In Which I Answer Colonel Mustard With a Slap of Relish UPDATED: MATT OSBORNE WANTS TO JIHAD!

Seems my Twittering over the last couple days has annoyed the far-Left so much that they've picked out some dweeb to attend to me, a scrawny-looking fellow by the name of Matt Osborne. He's one of those namby-pamby sorts without much writing style or flavor; likely a lawyer (got Mariana Trench?). I'd never heard of him; he's not as prominent a Lefty blogger as, say, Markos Moulitsas or even as intelligent as Charles Johnson.

My sequence of Twitter posts that's annoyed Little Matty stems from Rush Limbaugh's taking the easy bait offered by Sandra Fluke, that gal who wants free ones; who wants to drive her vajayjay as a clown-car but doesn't want to take enough personal responsibility to pay for birth control (a cheap rubber if you can't afford the $9.00/mo. WalMart gets)...she expects someone else to pay for it; in her case, a Catholic University, Georgetown. Democrats, ever-eager to pander to any old gender or racial group seeking special treatment, orchestrated a Partisan meeting where they let the bimbo speak.

Along comes Rush, being Rush, and he took her to task unmercifully. A trap was sprung: WAR ON WOMEN! the Left screeched. The howling was amplified by Media Matters (that Eric Boehlert outfit; he's one nassty Dirty Socialist) and other far-Left 'brain trusts' that exist just to advance their agendas at opportune moments like this (a 'brain trust' of which little Matt must be a sooper-dooper member). So, instead of focusing on Barack Obama's miserable failures in Matters Economic and his inability to create even shovel-ready jobs, we must listen to these fools drumbeat for Rush's head on a platter.

So, I give them things to talk about, with some virulent tweets. Good for me.

Here's the comment I left for little Matty. It might not stay up there; being of the far-Left, he likes to control the narratives to suit his agendas, ignoring anything that doesn't pass 'mustard' in their newly-imagined Ministry of Truth.

Meh. You're just trying to make yourself (a far-Left Liberal Progressive; unnatural in American politics, certainly unnatural to the founders of this Republic) somehow look better, given the hateful tactics you've embraced. I simply return tit for tat, as Alinsky suggested. I know you've heard of him.

Fact is, your Party is now unrecognizable; it's shifted so far-Left that this Republic is faltering, in danger of CHANGE to a state that not even you would appreciate, if you were truly being honest.

I voted for Jimmy Carter in 1976, and for Al Gore for TN Rep then TN Senator for several cycles.  But then the Democratic party started visibly shifting so far to Left that I had to leave; Bill Clinton's attacks on the 2nd Amendment was the very last straw. I can't look back, or look at Democrats without seeing an alien-to-American political species; Democrats are now as alien a species to America as is the Asian Carp.

You, personally, should try to step back, and see what collective damage your chosen ideology has done to this nation; LBJ's 'Great Society wasn't, and Obama's amorphous promise of CHANGE you probably can't decipher, either.
I'll tell you this: you won't like the brick wall you're speeding towards. Not one damned bit.

What first inspired me to get involved

Culture warriors came for my mind, and I wasn't giving it to them. At 15, I responded to censorship in my community and my textbooks by helping to start the ACLU's first Alabama chapter.

How I've gotten others involved

Today, I reacted to the news about Rush Limbaugh losing a sponsor by finding the Twitter accounts of his advertisers, then recruiting followers to tweet them and ask them to withdraw sponsorship. As these advertisers announced withdrawal, I retweeted them and thanked them. This all involved crowd participation -- a "virtual riot" that remained disciplined and well-behaved. I wasn't the only one, but I was part, and many followed. A cool online action. One of many. (UPDATE: one week later, we've convinced 33 advertisers to withdraw their sponsorship and gotten at least two radio stations to remove his show and I am highly focused on removing him from Armed Forces Radio - http://bit.ly/x1wkSP copy/paste the URL to sign our White House petition!)
My "Twitter faction" uses a hashtag, #1stAL, in memory of the 1st Alabama Union Volunteer Cavalry. That's right, sons of Alabama took up arms to defend the Union.

Missed again, Charles. You've picked an imaginary target that's simply impossible to attain.

My comment...

Mr. Blow, your comments seem reasonable, on the shallow surface, to any thinking man or woman. However, you still bitterly cling to the notions that your 'Progressive' President's abilities can and, somehow, magically and against all funding capabilities, bring about a Progressive nirvana that exists only in your dreams; as realizable as you say Conservative Constitutionalist's nostalgia is for reviving days past.

Even if Progressives could take away at gunpoint every dime from every 1% American, you could not fund the 'social safety nets' as you envision them.

Your dreams simply aren't feasible; and by taking away from those who have, those who've earned and legally acquired monies and goods, and redistributing monies, goods and services to those who haven't earned them and don't deserve them, you also take from those very people you want to 'help' their independence and their necessary ability to learn how to acquire goods and services responsibly. And to appreciate them once they've acquired.

You enslave them. As we've seen since Lyndon Baines Johnson gave birth to the so-called 'Great Society': we've seen inner cities become hovels of dependency. We've seen generations lost and individual's necessary competitive human spirits vanish, because we gave too much and expected too little.

That's not how Progressives envisioned a 'Great Society', I wouldn't think. But that's how it's turned out.

Sometimes looking back to 'how things were' isn't simply nostalgia; those ideals and principles give hope and can carry forward as fundamental structures to a better future; one that's not as Orwellian and Progressive as we see you running to.

Finally! the New York Times worriedly announces Republican Super-Pac activities

...getting ready to unleash on Dirty Socialist Barack Hussein Obama; signifying the start of the general election campaign season. Now that it seems that Mitt Romney will indeed be the standard-bearer in this important campaign against this terrible president and 'Bad' Man, Barack Hussein Obama.

At long last, and finally! we'll get down to the necessary business of removing the worst President in our modern history. No one could be happier than Jimmy Carter, who wore that mantle into his dotage.

This gentleman, Barack Obama, has succeeded in deeply dividing this nation three different ways: by class, by race and by ideology. None of his actions can be construed as activities of a 'healer' or 'peacemaker'; instead, he uses his only marketable learned trait, 'community organizing' - the basics of which he absorbed early in his life from various hardline radicals including professors who worshiped Saul Alinsky, then moving on to more radical ideology from domestic American terrorists and bombers and killers Bill Ayers and Bernardine Dorne, then subsequently learning polish at race relations under the tutelage of hard-line Black Liberation Theologist 'Reverend' Jeremiah Wright (yes, those are 'sneer' quotes) - to manipulate his vacuous, needy, soft and greedy supporters to frenzied actions with the ultimate goal of securing their votes with promises of 'free' monies taken from the Treasury, for to get himself first elected and now re-elected.

So, let's do this. We'll see if this Republic will go forward as a new, neo-Socialist nation, led by a man whose only claim to fame are amorphous smarmy catchphrases delivered by teleprompter, working his own, still-hidden agenda that only he and his closest advisers may fully realize and understand.

We definitely could use some "CHANGE" at this junct-ure, if it's not too late already.

Scientific breakthrough! Now, oocysts can be manufactured at will!

"Scientists rewrite rules of human reproduction".

Researchers at Edinburgh University are working with a team from Harvard Medical School in Boston to be the first in the world to produce mature human eggs from stem cells isolated from human ovarian tissue.

Until now, it has only been possible to isolate a relatively small number of mature human egg cells directly from the ovaries of women who have been stimulated with hormones. This technical limitation has led to an acute shortage of human eggs, or “oocycts”, for IVF treatment as well as scientific research.

The scientists want to fertilise the laboratory-grown egg cells with human sperm to prove that they are viable. Any resulting embryos will be studied for up to 14 days - the legal limit - to see if they are normal.

These early embryos will not be transplanted into a woman's womb because they will be deemed experimental material, but will either be frozen or allowed to perish. ...

For half a century, a dogma of reproductive biology was that women are born with their full complement of egg cells which they gradually lose through life until they run out when they reach the menopause.

“This age-old belief that females are given a fixed 'bank account' of eggs at birth is incorrect,” Professor Tilly said.

“In fact ovaries in adulthood are probably more closely matched to testes in adulthood in their capacity to make new germ cells, which are the special cells that give rise to sperm and eggs,“ he said.

”Over the past 50 years, all the basic science, all the clinical work and all the clinical outcome was predicated on one simple belief, that is the oocyte pool, the early egg-cell pool in the ovaries was a fixed entity, and once those eggs were used up they cannot be renewed, replenished or replaced,“ he added. ...

”I think personally [fertilising the first eggs] is do-able. I see no hurdles why it cannot be done this year,“ he added.

Yes, but would these newly-minted 'humans' have souls? Would they be, you know, 'really' human, or, as atheists and Democrats believe humans to be, merely soulless animals, a collection of tissues that are temporarily useful, then easily discarded, as is, say, a 8 1/2 month old fetus?

If they are the soulless animals that I'm thinking they would be, why, what a boon to the Democratic Party! That's all they'd need: a plethora of LeftLibProggs grown in vats.

Now, if only they can be trained to vote Democratic, like the rest of the mindless, lazy creatures who are so easily 'Community Organized' in this failing Republic.

Joe Nocera of the New York Times wonders why the Right doesn't like the GMC Volt

Poor old Joe Nocera. He just doesn't get it, does he? He laments that the Right not only ignores the Chevy Volt by not buying it (the Volt might be a decent car, if you've a penchant for asbestos suits), linking it to Obama. He goes to great lengths pointing out that Obama has nothing to do with the Volt. He misses the point entirely.

There is a direct connection between the GMC and the President. Recall that ill-advised

auto bailout? That bailout was used by Barack Obama and Democrats to save the Teamsters Union (known and rabid Democratic party supporters). That's why many good Americans turn away from GMC entirely. The unfortunate  Volt is a perfect target for right-leaning flamers (well, the Chevy Volt does tend to draw attention to itself when it catches fire whilst sitting harmlessly in one's garage). The hapless Volt is simply the lightning rod (if you will) for our well-deserved annoyance with GMC.

Now if Ford manufactured that vehicle, it would have better sales numbers I'll warrant. Also, Nissan manufactures the Leaf, an all-electric car; I'd much rather have one of those, given that it's manufactured in America (right here in Smyrna!), but without any Union involvement whatsoever.

We will vote every which way we can, you see, against elements of the far-Left.

A comment - response to Anne Klaeysan (...a leader of the New York Society for Ethical Culture [@NYSEC] [who also] serves as the humanist religious life adviser for Columbia University and Barnard College), writing in today's NYT, favoring and pushing for removal of "In God We Trust" from all U.S. currency and coin...

It's good to see that Democrats are reaffirming their party's collective platform of atheism. We see again that their secular, soulless wing is the dominant wing in that mostly Godless party. Recall that the early scientist-philosopher (the gentleman who invented the scientific method) Francis Bacon stated that 'without God humans are but animals'. Is that not the the very essence of today's far-Left Democrats? Soulless (so they think) creatures who put their own massive egos in the empty place where God should be; who hope Darwin's evolutionary principles will give them enough of a reason for living beyond just the reasons afforded to other creatures not so blessed with souls?

Then Democrats will, in their next breath, decry 'social Darwinism'. It is to laugh.

Yes, Anne, you do have a soul, or you wouldn't be human.

The Trayvon Martin - George Zimmerman case, served by the New York Times

Finally, a 7-page article in the New York Times covering the details of Trayvon Martin's death at the hands of George Zimmerman. While still not truly objective, this article doesn't overtly drumbeat for a left-wing cause (just an undercurrent I sense, but I'm attuned to these undercurrents and can sniff 'em out like a drug dog can sniff out a doper's hidden stash, no matter where it might be). Read the article; here's my comment, awaiting approval from the likewise-attuned left-wingers who run the New York Times...

A thoughtful article, filling in some of the gaping holes that more boisterous media outlets overlooked (for example, some reported that Trayvon's body sat in a morgue for three days before it was claimed). And thank you! for not again posting that beatified photo of Trayvon, taken long before this encounter.

Also, for a left-wing publication, I'm happy to not find the drumbeat for gun control. I'd counter that always-underlying sentiment with insistence that parents have more control over their minor children; perhaps not allowing so much 'bad influence' from attitude rappers and mindless peers, bad influences that turns good-hearted kids to getting tattoos and gold-tooth displays at such a young age; making their future employment problematic.

This case will resolve itself, after further scrutiny from the top down. But we must answer a more important question than just this youth's untimely death. Why, when the New Black Panther Party put out a 'bounty' for George, even including a wanted poster, have not heard from the chief Law Enforcement officer in the land, President Obama, condemning them? That to me is a serious matter. Barack said Trayvon could resemble his son if he had one; why couldn't George also be like a figurative son? Equal protection under the law should apply, regardless of skin color, or so it seems to me.

Yep, gold teefs and tatts don't get you hired, unless your career choice is a TV bounty hunter or 'repo-man' (or woman). I unfortunately watched on of those repo shows t'other night...what a waste of time. Some fat chick adorned with tatts, and her likewise unpleasant ex-husband, roaming the streets of L.A. repossessing cars. One repossession featured a car repossessed after the owner missed just one payment. Good times were had by all! )
